What is Bio-CNG
Bio-CNG (Bio-Compressed Natural Gas) is a renewable fuel derived from the purification and compression of biogas, which is produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic waste materials such as agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, and animal manure.
High Energy Efficiency
With a calorific value of about 52,000 kJ/kg, Bio-CNG offers significantly higher energy efficiency compared to raw biogas.
Environmental Benefits
Utilizing Bio-CNG can lead to substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, making it a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels.
Versatile Applications
Bio-CNG is suitable for various uses, including transportation fuel, power generation, and as a replacement for conventional fuels in industrial processes.
Valuable By-products
The production process yields valuable by-products like high-quality organic fertilizers and food-grade carbon dioxide, enhancing the overall economic viability.
How It Works
Anaerobic Digestion
Organic materials like agricultural waste, animal manure, and food scraps are broken down by microorganisms in an oxygen-free environment, producing biogas — a mixture primarily of methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂).
Biogas Purification
The raw biogas undergoes purification to remove impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, moisture, and CO₂, resulting in biomethane with a methane content of about 92–94%.
Compression
The purified biomethane is compressed to high pressures to produce Bio-CNG, which can be stored in cylinders or transported via pipelines for use as a clean fuel alternative.
Why You Should Use Bio-CNG
Environmentally Friendly
Bio-CNG emits significantly fewer greenhouse gases, making it a cleaner energy choice that helps fight climate change.
Reduces Fossil Fuel Use
Bio-CNG is a renewable alternative that helps cut dependence on imported and non-renewable fossil fuels.
Lowers Pollution Levels
Using Bio-CNG results in less air and noise pollution compared to diesel and petrol, improving public health and air quality.
